Saturday the 9th June 2018 was earmarked as our first clearance day. The weather was superb and volunteers came down both in the morning and afternoon. A tremendous amount of material was cleared, sifted and mostly skipped. However a lot of building materials were carefully reclaimed and put to one side for possible use later including bricks and tiles, Simon Stirling kept supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits coming whilst Jill Howes provide bacon butties at lunchtime.
The main double gates have arrived and once the skip is taken away we are hoping a local builder will install these.
Thanks to everyone who came down on the day and worked so hard, making a real impact on clearing the area.
The allotment support area won't just be for allotment users. nearby is the Educational Allotment regularly used by young children. The ASA will have a cabin and greenhouse as well as raised beds which will provide additional facilities for the children to use. As funding permits it is hoped to provide toilet and washing facilities.
